description
Since 1981, the North Carolina State Company has offered a free week long workshop designed to “bridge the gap of understanding between teens and seniors.” Participants ages 13-17 and 60+ share their personal stories and collaborate in the development of a collective story based on their experiences. The culminating event is a public presentation. Most intergenerational programs are spaced out over a semester, a season, or a year. This intensive week-long program is somewhat unusual. It has been carefully designed to generate intergenerational interaction while also fostering understanding of the real steps necessary to plan, prepare, and perform a live performance.
