Science Daily report on a Frontiers Research Topic by a German scientific team investigating the cognitive and neural effects of physical and cognitive acitivity across the lifespan. Dr. Kathrin Rehfeld who directed the study of 18 adults with an average age of 68 states: “In this study we show that two different types of physcial activity (dancing and endurance training) both increase the area of the brain that declines with age. However, it was only dancing that leads to noticeable behaviorable changes in terms of improved balance.”
