description
As part of the program, “Beading with the Big Chief,” offered at the Louisiana State Museum and taught by Big Chief Darryl Montana of the Yellow Pocahontas Hunters, the museum put together this behind-the-scenes tour of the Cabildo led by Darryl. In this video, you will learn about the history and traditions of Black Masking Indians and see some of the incredible beadwork by older adult participants.
This program is part of the Seeding Vitality Arts in Museums Initiative developed, funded and managed by Aroha Philanthropies with technical assistance provided by Lifetime Arts. For more information about this workshop series, please see our case study, “Beading with the Big Chief Darryl Montana at the Louisiana State Museum.”
