The Central Vermont Council on the Arts (CVCOA) recently launched its 2021 Creative Care Kit Project which provides homebound or isolated older adults with access to teaching artists online, kits to support art-making in the visual arts or poetry, and regular video or phone calls with trained creative companion volunteers. In prior years, VCCOA Creative Care Kits were focused on other art disciplines. The project is sponsored by Meals on Wheels, which delivers the kits, many to rural homes. This regional arts council initiative offers a model for home-based participatory arts that includes not only skills development with artist-educators, but also expanded social connections.
