description
This article reported on the announcement of a pilot program, “Social Prescriptions,” at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) that allowed doctors and social workers to prescribe activities, such as museum visits, that promote social connections. This program was offered with the support of Alliance for Healthier Communities. The Royal Ontario Museum provided free admission to those who obtained a prescription to enter the museum. This program is emblematic of the “Social Prescription” programs that are increasingly being offered by museums. They reflect growing understanding of the beneficial efforts of cultural participation on physical and mental health.
