National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA)

About

National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA) (2001-2017). NCCA was founded by Susan Perlstein of Elders Share the Arts and established in Washington DC. It was dedicated to fostering an understanding of the vital relationship between creative expression and healthy aging and to developing programs that build on this understanding. They offered networking opportunities, a directory of programs and national convenings.

Creative Aging Focus:

NCCA embraced the work of Gene Cohen and helped to advocate for creative aging programming with major institutions at the national level. Their emphasis was more weighted towards the therapeutic practice area of the field, especially work that supported older adults with cognitive loss.
